Titus was born August 15th, 2012 and he's hoping for a new home for his 2nd birthday! He was an owner-surrender as his energy level didn't match that of Grandma's who needed to move in with his family--though he's really quite mellow for a boy his age! He's been settling in nicely to his foster home and checked over by our vet. He is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations and tested heartworm negative. He gets along very nicely with kids and dogs of all ages and sizes; he barks at cats so we've not tried nor suggest any cat introductions. It's clear this boy has been loved on and worked with; we've seen no behavioral or medical red flags. More information/observations about Titus from his former owner and current foster mom are posted below. His adoption fee is $450 with a $50 rebate after taking two classes of your choice on any aspect of dog ownership or behavior. |
His former-owner says:
Titus has been through two obedience courses and knows some basic commands. He is affectionate and likes to cuddle or sit on the couch with you. He walks quite well on a lead considering he hasn't spent a lot of time on that skill. He came from Oak Hills Kennels in Portage, WI. I am quite positive he will make a fine dog for someone. He has been around my four grand-daughters who range in age from 6 to 1 with no problems at all and lives with another, older SPoo. He is a beautiful dog and I am sure going to miss him.

His foster-mom says of Titus: What a guy!!! He is beautiful, sweet and well mannered guy. Titus is very well housebroken. He has not had a single accident in the house. When he goes outside he goes right for an area that I have bordered in with lumber and does his business. I believe that if his forever family wanted him to go potty in a certain area this would be very easy to achieve with Titus by simply bordering the area in. Yesterday I was able to take Titus to a poodle pool party. Titus was nervous in the car, but rode nicely and quietly. He had a great time at the pool party and went in up to his shoulder. There were 11 other poodles there and Titus got along great with all of them. He has become pretty attached to me so he would go and play and romp for a few minutes then run back to me. Our first night Titus made it very clear that he wanted to sleep in the bed. He is very comfortable there. During the day he likes to be near his person, but is not a Velcro dog. He just likes to have you in sight. Titus seems to have nice recall and comes to his name quickly. While Titus does like to play he can also be a couch potato. He prefers the couch to his own bed, but also will lay on the floor. He does play with toys and likes to fetch a ball although he is a ½ fetcher: he will chase the ball and bring it back to the room you are in, but not to your hand. Titus will come to you when he wants some attention and you will know this when he pushes his head into you. He will allow you to love on him, but does not seem to love a big heaping of this. He interacted with some younger children in the neighborhood last night and did very well with them. Titus does occasionally jump on you when he is excited, but it is not a constant or very forceful, and he is easily redirected. Titus does not like the crate, we are working on this. He has had no problem being left loose in portions of the house. Titus does startle and times, but this may just be due to new surroundings. Titus is a gentle but mouthy dog. He will use his mouth to let you know he wants your attention. There is never any pressure with this, he simply places his mouth on your arm to get your attention. He also plays with other dogs with his mouth. Titus seems to get along with other dogs, playing nicely with many dogs while here. He was not a big fan of a neighbor dog that is a young golden retriever and a very rough one. He was in Titus’s face and being very physical. Titus did his best to walk away and ignore and even gave a little warning growl. This dog did not quit and Titus then did a threatening growl ( totally appropriate considering he tried other options first). I believe Titus would be best off in a home that did not have another dog that was rudely rambunctious. He would be fine with any other dog. I have a small dog and a large dog of my own and he has done fine with them. Titus walks well on the leash, he does get ahead of you, but does not pull you. He will leap forward at the sight of another dog though. | Adoption Pending! |
